“I made Stormzy popular in Ghana,” Yaw Tog brags.
Yaw Tog in an interview with one of Ghana’s biggest Television Network TV3, has disclosed that he made UK’s biggest artist Stormzy popular in Ghana.
According to the young rapper, Stormzy only made him popular in marketing wise. But with Stormzy becoming very popular in Ghana was due to his feature.
Yaw Tog had Stormzy on his remixed song “Y3 B3 SORE” which also featured Ghanaian hip hop artist Kwesi Arthur. The song won “Popular Song Of The Year” at the just ended #VGMA22. The “Y3 B3 SORE” song also had the fastest most streamed song on Ghana YouTube. Recording one million streams within 3 days.
Some music fans and enthusiasts has expressed their satisfaction with Yaw Tog comments about he being the one who made Stormzy popular.
Sammy Forson says he is disappointed in Yaw Tog for making such comments. He described Yaw Tog as being “selfish.”
“Yaw Tog’s comments about making Stomzy popular in GH are the kind that unfortunately encourage selfish behavior in the industry.. If u know what it takes to be a mainstream artist in the UK and play listed into other parts of europe, u won’t loose talk.. Smh.. Focus on ur music. When he headlined GH rocks a couple of Christmases, did u notice? Just do ur research bro.. I don’t need to go back and forth with u on this.. If Stormzy wasn’t who he is, Kumerica would not have made a big deal out of that. Stomzy did yaw tog a big favor. Stomzy is a main UK artist. He headlines major shows in UK and Europe. He makes big money off his streaming numbers abroad.. Stomzy might be new to yaw Tog’s generation but not to ghana music.. Do ur research.” – Stormzy revealed.
